well i got the gear making bug bad.turns out i like to sew.i made a hammock for my buddy tony.i decided to then make one for his daughter ,my goddaughter emma.she is 5.luckily she loves pink.
i got some nice 1.1 sil in purple,i used sclittlefields pattern for the winter dream ,scaled down to10foot ridge.i figured a little girl needs doors.i then folded, ironed and sewed pink gross grain around the edges .i used pink grossgrain for the tie outs, and reinforced the tie out areas with the grey color of the hammock.the stake lines are pink mason line.the snakeskins were made of some dollar a yard wally fabric.

the hammock was made from some 1.5 oz ripstop i bought from sclittlfields site.i trimmed it in some of the purple scraps from the tarp cat cuts.the ends were slightly rounded, channeled and bunched whipped with some pink twine.i used black amsteel to make whoopies.these are looped thru some of the older cinch buckles, which are on black webbing.i made the hammock full sized, starting with a 10 foot 2 in piece.
this is the best pic i have of the hammock, hard to see it past emmas smile.

next came the bug net.for this i started with sclittlefields net design but tweeked it somewhat.i curved the pockets to match the shape of the hammock, and made the end material go to bottom of pockets instead of the top.
i found the netting at wally again 1 dol a yrd.very fine, but not to durable seeming.the pink pocket material was also from wally the grossgrain ribbon was used to seperate the pockets, and i again used the leftover tarp material to trim it out.i used ribbon to tie it to each end of the hammock instead off velcro.

i also made her an underquilt.i based it on slackdaddys design which i again modified somewhat.i used polyester quilt batting for insulation.it will be a long time till she camps in the cold.by then i will make her a better insulated one.i have never used an undequilt or read much about them.luckily when i started researching i found slackdaddys post over in underquilts it got me pointed in the correct direction.i like the way this turned out and will be making one for myself,a little more earthy color

this is my fifth hammock tarp i sewed.i would like to thank the hammock community for helpin my learn to sew and for the constant source of ideas and insperations.
