EDIT: found what i was looking for
In the process of getting ready to purchase my first hammock and looking for cheaper/lighter bugnet options I stumbled across an older bugnet I still had brand new in my closet from a couple years ago when I was in Scouts. It is this type to be exact:
http://www.amazon.com/Coghlans-Singl.../dp/B000LGX0H8
I managed to find it on the above Amazon link, along with the weight listed (7.2 ounces, shipped) and decided to possibly mod this to fit a hammock. I have browsed the forums looking for DIY options for bugnets and have not come across too many options other than complete custom nets and figured this may be a nice alternative to a "from scratch" process.
Considering this is about half the weight of most commercial $35+ bugnets I figured eliminating some of the excess would be great and end up with an even lighter net. This idea goes especially for those unable to access a sewing machine, etc.
My question is what are some good ideas to mend the net into a form fitting hammock sock to eliminate all the extra netting?
I have a few ideas spinning and seeing as if this works out I may eventually create a walk-through pic/or video tutorial for anyone interested.
