Illustration - Optimal Distance and Height Between Anchors

I believe it was OldGringo who asked for an illustration like this. After putting together the basic illustration, I saw how easy it is to achieve the "perfect hang" and get the magic 30-degree hang angle. You can see from the illustration that there is an optimal zone where the distance between the trees is also the perfect height to reach the anchor point.

    I hope this makes sense!

hah, by pure chance, this is exactly what ive been doing since the beginning. ive been taking 15 feets worth of steps and pitching at head height.

this is a great diagram though.

do we have permission to post it elsewhere? i.e on a forum like bcuk... not going to sell it to the papers dont worry.

Beautiful. Once again taking the somewhat abstract and making it tangible. This will be a powerful visual for many hangers.

    Thanks Dejoha

I brought this up initially because it appeared to me that many new hangers were having difficulty visualizing the relationship between the distance between anchor points and the height of said points...I thought a graphic depiction would prove helpful. Thanks!

Great stuff ! By using the compairsons of how many paces, head high etc.
It helps the learner to quikley set up the "perfect hang" .

Thanks Dejoha for the info and your time making the illustration !

WOW! Even a simple minded person such as my self can understand and remember that. Dejoha, Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I save a copy of all of your illistrations. I get a bunch of hammock hanging questions from friends and co-workers. Your illustrations really help to explain things. Keep up the great work that you do.

Hope it makes sense? Ha what'da you call alligators ... lizards? Very nicely done and really takes a common sense approach to the explaination. I think that's going to really help a lot of folks. Hope it becomes a sticky.
