Just got back from field testing my first hang with all DIY gear. Thanks to Gargoyle and Opie for the inspiration to jump in and go for it. Net is a Warbonnet copy, Marpat hex tarp based on Hennesy hex, hammock and storage hammock are 1.9 rip in multicam. Loops and adjustable ridgeline are attributed to Opie's lesson at the MI Hang using the amsteel he graciously gave away free. Learned alot and will adapt/improve things as time goes on but I'm happy with my first attempt...Bush

I wonder if hanging the gear hammock by running it's lines up to the ends of the hammock would work? Would reduce the amount of line and maybe make rigging simpler.

Good looking setup. Man, that ground looks hard. Aren't you glad your above it?
Running the lines to the hammock would work and limit the line involved but I was field testing and it's easier to cut than to add. I also wanted to leave the option to tie off to another tree as the gear hammock tended to press against me or get wedged under me. Okay most of the time but it was 90's and very humid, inhibiting the cooling breeze. Any other suggestions? It was an afterthought using the extra fabric from making the hammock.
