How much length for tarp ridgeline?

How much cordage is good for a single tarp ridgeline?

I'm still pretty new, but I'll let you know what I've been doing:

Factor in the length of your hammock when hung to the preferred amount of sag and add the maximum length your suspension system can reach. I like to add just a bit in case the only suitable trees are thicker than I anticipate. So i end up bringing about 40-50' of cordage for my ridgeline. I'm not a SUL hiker and won't pretend to be. The rope I'm currently using is polyester braided 3/16". It's not as light as Zing It or Lash it, but it works just fine and hasn't stretched noticeably yet.

Most of the "pre-made" ones that I've seen are 30 feet long.

i laid my hammock and suspension on the ground and pulled to longest point. laid my tarp next to it and made tarp and tie outs the same length. whatever that was i don't know.

Mine is 30 feet. I wouldn't want to hang between trees that are over 20 feet apart so 30 feet for a ridgeline is good for me.
