    Proper PM etiquette

    I have seen it done both ways but I thought I would ask so I am doing it the right way. When replying to a PM do you;

    1. Just reply below the original message, or

    2. Do you go to the top and hit enter a couple time to make room to reply at the top like an e-mail.

Note I don't believe in personal preference when it comes to etiquette. There is a right way and a wrong way and the Grizz way which is the wrong way with a lot more math. I would like to do it the right way.
    Peace Dutch

I don't know about proper etiquette...but if you reply below the original, and the other party does the same, then when you review the messages the conversation is in order.

Personally I treat them like posts and quote the parts that I want to respond to directly. That's probably not in accordance with your new etiquette regime.

That would be a good idea.
I've see when one types above the message and one types at the end.
    The whole conversation gets discombobulated.

I prefer to have it at the top so you see the latest comment at the beginning.
It would still be in order, but bottom to top.

At the very least, the second replier should do the same thing as the first one.

I replied to Dutch just this morning, and that reply may have prompted his question. I replied on top, but looking through a lot of my PMs I see I'm a switch hitter!! Found a bit about this through google. See the third paragraph.

I like it at the top too but it can be hard to do (I use an iPhone). Saves time and effort. Everything is still in order. That is my logic.

not sure Miss Manners has addressed this issue- but in a PM I would expect that it would not matter siginficantly for a short exchange, if newer were above or below- for a lengthy discussion I think newest on top would save having to scroll through all the (untrimmed?) posts to get to the reply.
Ann Landers might suggest if you reply to a reply that you mirror what your pen-pal has done, as that will likely be -their- preferred method.
    hope that helps, KM

I reply at the top. You already know what had been said. So no need to scroll down to see the reply, unlike on a forum thread.

I've done both ... but when answering on my iPhone it's such a huge pain to get to the bottom ... so I usually reply to the top ... or sometimes like AS ... gulp .. does.

I reply below. Probably do it that way because that's how I saw it first. No other real reason.
