    custom art tarp

strike me down if this outright stupid:

but, i was wondering about screen-printing or spraypainting on a tarp. in particular, spinn, but any tarp i guess.

the cost alone of spinn tells me "no", but i just think it would be wild
to see the HF logo huge on the broadside of a rig.

maybe something like this is better suited for one of the cheaper tarps?

If it's a good, coated tarp, wouldn't it be difficult to impossible for anything to stick to it?

Use of the HF Logo is verbotten. Unless otherwise authorized by the moderator staff.
Selling anything with the logo is a no-no, as well.

Paint might stick to sill or spinn, but it may also harm or melt the material.
If heard of people spray painting there packs, but its not long lived and flakes off. And it is not that attractive. ymmv.

But the purpose of sil or spinn is to be lightweight. Adding layers of paint would add grams or oz. to the tarp.

The constant folding and bending of stuffing the fabric would probably loosen the bond quickly.

Possibly painting normal 1.1 ripstop, then siliconing the entire project would work better. ????

Still don't see it being long lived.

Nothing sticks to sil...nothing. I suspect the same is true of Spinn, but I haven't really tried.

Want a cool custom 'painted' tarp? Then you should look at some of the lightweight canvases. It's gonna be heavy, but it would be kind of cool. Then again, I'm kinda into painted teepees so I'm biased.

Possibly screen print the standard 1.1 ripstop and then use the DIY silnylon method??

Yeah, that would very cool! I could see some people getting very creative and making some masterpieces to be shown off at some of the campground hangs. Try Tyvek, I had some paint stick to it pretty good in my Tyvek experimenting days. There's some paints out there now that are suppose to stick to plastics too. Tyvek is fairly cheap and comes in a form that demands to be aletered...white with " Dupont Tyvek" lettering

water based paint likely wouldn't stick but maybe oil based would...
