I thought here we could talk about:

Does it work ???

Yesterday I did a 25 mile trek through the bush with a 50lb pack.

Why ???

Good questions don't always have good answers.

A couple of weeks ago I lightly sprayed 1 pair of pants 2 shirts and the upper of 2 pairs of socks.
I then read in the other thread, that one needs to soak the items thoroughly.
So, yesterday morning, just before leaving, I did just that, soaked 2 sets of clothing.
But needing the 2 hours to dry, I didn't have, so threw them in the cloths dryer.
I wasn't sure if that would affect the Permethrin, but . . .

On the 25km hike I encountered 3 or 4 different areas, bug wise.
1. none 2. misquotes 3/4. other types of bugs.

I was wearing a light snap-up western shirt.
The areas that had mosquitoes, were not heavy with, but still intolerable.
The other areas, had a new hatch of what ever, and they were plenty/bad.

Conclusion:
I wasn't bothered much with any of the bugs at all,
but the hike ended up between 11:00 and 18:30
so it was in the heat of the day.
When I removed my hat,
the mosquitoes would zero-in-on my temple and feast,
but immediately upon replacing my hat . . . no problems.

The same with the other bugs.

So when I got home . . . my "Hats Off, To Permethrin"
I will be ordering a couple more spray bottles tonight.

Permethrin works great. I didn't get any ticks this year at all and I hiked through some prime tick territory many times. Earlier in the year I found a tick crawling in my car but I'm convinced it hitched a ride on my pack since it wasn't treated. Since then I have been spraying my pack and haven't found a single tick anywhere. Permethrin keeps the mosquitoes from landing on your clothes but I found I still need to rub on the dreaded greasy/stinky 3M Ultrathon DEET on my exposed skin (face, head, neck) or I still get eaten alive.

My backyard is infested with mosquitos, but when the permethrin treated hammock is out they vanish. I'm considering treating my old ENO and just leaving it out as a scarecrow for mosquitos.

That is pretty much also my experience with Permethrin. Except I have only sprayed, not yet soaked. If I have any question, like how long since I sprayed the clothes or how many clothes I have on, I don't mind at all spraying exposed skin with Picaridin. But even with just the Perm on my hat and clothing, they just don't seem to bother me at all. But, I have not tried it with shorts without spraying my legs with Picaridin or DEET.

I'm a fan of both chemicals. Some trips I choose to carry the lemon eucalyptus bug spray, but I'm a still a big fan of picaridin. I just can't find it anywhere but wally world and only in those little pen-spray-thingys. Where are you getting yours BillyBob?

I find it locally at Walgreens in a 6oz spray bottle. "Cutter Advanced" brand, in a blue bottle.

It's easy to repackage to a smaller spray container.

Where did you order the permethrin from, and did they deliver it straight to you in Canada?

I still need to treat the hammock and bug net when it gets here , Now has anyone got the permethrin from tractor supply or farm n fleet which I have heard some mention they get it there I saw many different brands and was like ok which one currently I use the sawyer brand spray
