    Cool it. Fans?

A number of people have advocated using a fan to stay cool on these hot days and nights. Where do you get them, how long do the batteries last? Do you recommend any specific brand? Are they relatively cheap? I'm interested, but apprehensive about dragging more "stuff" around. Then again, sleeping in a puddle of sweat takes the edge off a good time. I'm open to suggestions.

I've been wondering what people use as well. I saw a couple tent fans that could deffinitely be modded to hang on a RL at ****'s Sporting Goods...not sure if that's what people on here are using, they were fairly cheap price too. Like you said though I'm hesitant to lug one around

    this is what I use,

Try to find it local, as Amazon is charging way to much for shipping.
I hang mine from an inside ridgeline. The blades are made of foam and don't rip up the no-see-um if they touch. I'll usually hang my bandana right behind it to hold out the netting. The batteries do pretty good on a week long trip. I still will carry a spare set.

Just fyi, there has been a lot of research done on fans. A quick search brings up these two threads:

You've already been given some great links, so I won't repeat what has been said, but I will mention that often you don't have to use the fan for long periods of time to get cool, so battery life isn't an issue. At least in my case, I get really hot getting settled into the hammock, wiggling around to find that sweet spot, and the mosquito netting makes for dead air. I crank up my little $2 fan and point it directly at my head. After a few minutes, I cool down, and as long as I don't move, I can turn it off and remain reasonably comfortable just from the cooling effect of the hammock for the rest of the night.
