    Strap and buckle question

I just received the straps from Speer and the buckles to convert my hammocks over. How do the snake skins works around this new system. It seems the buckles are bigger than the end of the snake skin, so I guess the skins are on as usual and the buckles are attacked just outside the small end of the skins? How far from the end of the hammock would be the best place to tie the buckles?

The buckles work fine just outside the small end of the snakeskins. They even provide a drip-spot for water that would run down the webbing during rain.

    Close. Just a few inches.

I tie my buckles about 8" from the hammock end. This gives the skins some play room.

Because I use the supershelter, I have to leave enough rope to be able to slide the prussick/hooks far enough away from the hammock to supply adequate tension for the SS suspension. Still, that's probably not much more than a foot, maybe a little more to leave some reserve.
