    Whoopies on a WBBB?

I am considering changing my BB from the stock webbing and dutch clips to whoopies utilizing my newly acquired Dutch Biners, same fashion Hawkeye demonstrated in his video for the Dutch Biner. With sooo many threads out there on whoopies, I'm curious to know if anyone has a link to a video or thread that could help me see how to make this change specifically for the BB. I have not considered doing this before because of the simplicity of the webbing and dutch clips. Other than the "coolness" of whoopies, would I really be gaining any advantages by making this change? I would think the weight loss would be minor if any.

I just received my new WBBB 1.7 today and inspected the suspension. There is a loop of Amsteel blue to which the straps are attached to the triangle plates on the webbing. It would be easy to attach the eye of the Woopie Sling to the loop on the hammock using the Dutch Biners. However, you would need tree huggers and toggles to attach the Woopies to the tree I'm bot sure if you'd be gaining much and you'd have a lot more moving parts.

Note: I switched the suspension on my HH Exposition to Woopies with huggers and toggles and found it superior to the standard rope and hugger suspension. However, I'm really looking forward to the simpler webbing suspension on my WBBB.

Replace the stock buckles and amsteel loop (shown here being removed) with the loop of amsteel for your dutch biner.

Here's the video I used to attach the whoopie to my WBBB:

The gathered end does not come undone once you take the suspension out so dont worry about that. There is a piece of cord that keeps it together.

weight savings is about 5 - 6 ounces depends on what else you change like the ridgeline and side bungee tie outs.

Thanks guys, I'm going to give it a go this weekend and see what prevails. Still not convinced that my webbing with Dutch Clips isn't the better way to go for weight and simplicity reasons. Sure is awful nice to walk into camp and wrap tree, clip, and adjust. But Whoooooopies are pretty cool !

I did it just for weight savings. Webbing with dutch clips are much faster since you have no knots to tie. But the adjustments are basically the same.

Switching out the suspension took 15 min max.

Muskrat I just ordered the whoopie all in one suspension which is kind of like having the webbing and buckles except it's with the whoopie slings. You could make it yourself though

I've tried whoopies on mine and they are definitely cool. What brought me back to webbing was I found it to be a little simpler (I used to use a marlin spike hitch) plus I could go a little shorter as well if needed. With the intro of the dutch biners though I may have to try whoopies again.

Whoopies are: 1)lighter, 2)easier to adjust, 3)stretch less, 4) Funner to pronounce

Cons that I've heard: 1)Not as simple for initial setup, 2)People are afraid that they will forget to pack up their straps since everything isn't attached together

Personally, I transitioned from webbing to whoopies and haven't looked back. Your mileage may vary.

Easy fix..... Less bulk..... I save a good deal of weight with them as well.
    Try it out.
