I have a new bugnet. It's the simple bugsock type with the drawstring and cordlock at the head end. How do you all close it up completely? I find it very hard to reach up and close it completely because my Traveler is quite a bit longer than me. I have to keep hitching myself up to the headend and even then it's hard to reach up behind my head and tighten it up past the gathered end of the Traveler. Do you worry about closing it up completely?

I just pull it shut. I've not had a problem, but my hammock is only about 100" long with the finished gathered ends.

The Traveler is 120" & I'm 5'7". So that may be some of my problem. I can get it just about shut easy, but it takes a big effort to get it completely shut.
Good to know. And if I treat the Traveler with permethrin it should help even more at the little bit of opening at the end of the hammock. Already did my Warbonnet. Easy enough to do both net and Traveler at same time and I do have some of it on the shelf. Thanks!

Yep, its not neccessary to completely cork it tight. Once it snug (as far as I can reach) then I fluff the extra gathered net into the hollow spot between the edges of the hammock. So far its worked okay.
Maybe a small flap of netting could be attached to the head of the sock that fills that void?
I was even thinking some elastic shockcord would be nice. With a cordlock, snug it up and it'll still give some as you move around in the hammock?

I just remembered one time when the skeeters did invade my "Fortress of Net". I slung a tee shirt over the suspension line, making an impenetrable maze of cotton/polyester and nylon net.
It angered the little blood suckers that I slept.

I was also thinking of some kind of elastic cord to close up the gap as long as I got it close to the end. But not a full circle of elastic. Just something to close up the last little bit of gap. But if the permethrin does the trick, I may not even bother with that.

before i get in i slide my head end snakeskin a little ways over the hammocks end/ridgeline.after i pull the net past me toward the end of the hammock i reach back and wrap my hand around the hammock and pull myself up to where i can reach to close the sock.i pull the snakeskin in it a little to close the end
