Same concept, but we use two large trees to provide enough separation.

I'd say 2 hammock and a big tarp would do good. I just don't think I'd like being in a hammock with another person

    Get her her own hammock.
Rig the suspension on each side of the trees like this:

And hang one hammock a little lower than the other, that works for the wife and me....

Another combination: you take hammock. Wife goes to ground.

LOL. Wives used to be able relegate their smart alack hubby's to the couch, but now it's just another excuse for them to go hang in the hammock.

Looks kinda heavy & complicated, but for car camping I guess it might be good. Looks neat & interesting anyway (but people have a way of doing that w/ pictures & drawings, don't they?).
Yep! Cavediver2 let me borrow his for a couple of months. I really liked it! Didn't really care for the other Clarks I've tried (NA & NX200), but the Vertex allowed me to cheat the diagonal by putting my feet over into the other hammock bed. I actually slept quite well in it and didn't even wake-up when Genuine Draft got up and out to pee. It's a really well thought-out and built system. I still want one, but it's just hard to drop that kind of coin all at once. They should start a lay-away program.

Yes....but the trick (husbands point of view) is to make darn sure the couch you buy is more comfortable than the bed. Having said that, a woman is more comfortable than anything else on the planet. I love mine! The woman that is.
I like to go solo - off trail - immerse myself in the area - explore - eat really well - and make it back home.

Here are some pics of me and my wife doing a double hang at the Congaree Swamp here in SC.

Claytor 3X4 Big Fly over Claytor Jungle Hammock and Warbonnet Blackbird.

She fell asleep in the Blackbird before I could finish setting up camp. I guess I know which hammock is hers now...
