How well does the tule bug sock last? Does it get holes in it quickly or let bugs in after a long time of use?
Yes. It gets tears fairly easy. It is best not to let it contact the ground much
Any suggestions for those with adjustable structural ridgelines who change the length to suit the pitch location when needed? I prefer my ridgeline at around 96", but bring it out all the way to 109" when I'm pitching low on the trees and need less sag. My thought was to make it for the 109" length but add a 6" strip of webbing at each end of the sock with loops toward the middle of the sock so that I can attach it to a prussik on the ridgeline to pull it taut.
Any other solutions to this problem?
Just a few question on this.
1- For the bottom cut angle is there a set measurement you did or how did you come to this angle, also how did you cinch the material or is just just sewn on the 1" opening?
2- How do you like the 40" height or if you do this again would you go to 44 or 48"? If so why?
3- Did you have to make 2 seams or was your material 80" wide and just folded in half, I tried to see if I could see it in the video but I couldn't see that detail of it?
Sorry for the basic questions but I am thinking of modifying a TLG Bug Screen as it has too much bulk and extra material for me. I figure I can make the foot end and leave the head end a bit long for now and once I get my ridgeline all dialed in I can make the head end with the final cuts.
Thanks in advance
Craig
Got started on mine got the foot end done but waiting for my full time ridgeline before I finish it off, I had to improvise tonite but super thrilled with it so far. I hadn't planned on DIY but the TLG hammock kept looking at me funny so I had to cut it up. Thanks to my wife for sewing it up quick for me as well.
Got mine finished up for the most part, though I need to get some orange draw cord as I used 550 Paracord as that was the only thing I had laying around when I decided to finish this off.
Slept outside last night as it was cool next project has to be a UQ...
