I think it'll probably stay bunched up into a wad and not very comfortable or warm, try it and see.
I used a wool blanket under me in a hammock for a few nights. It worked fine, but I do not move very much when I sleep in a hammock. If you have a tendency to move around in your sleep then I think Take-a-knee is right; it's likely to bunch up under you.

that blanket was one of the acrylic or something like that.
it worked fine for a friend car camping (low 40s i believe).

Yeah slowhike I've used a blanket wrapped around my hammock like that with really good results. But, I think he's talking about laying directly on top of the blanket.
