3 season to winter TQ thoughts

I'm making a regular sewn thru TQ today
Was thinking IF -- once it is at this stage in image below

if putting another piece of material on top like a kangaroo pouch
then making another sewn thru quilt - perhaps with 1" - 1.5" loft
where as the main one is 1.5" - 2" loft
it can become a interchangeable 3-season to winter quilt

    Has anyone tried this?
If not - does it sound like it would work & give the extra warmth??

it might work since your down south...
i would add a fleece liner ...that should get you down to 30 degrees

the problem with sewn through quilts is you get cold air through your stitch lines...

i would just makea baffled quilt...there easy to do...to be honest i think there easier then a sewn through quilt
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

I agree. After making both my TQ & UQ, the baffles on the UQ were actually easier than doing the sewn through on my TQ. I found the ripstop had a tendency to want to slide like ice when I sewed it.
