    Blackbirds & weight limits

OK, so I own a WBBB 1.7 double layer and love it. But I have to admit that it's a bit over the top for my size and weight (5.4 foot / ~130 lbs). Newbie mistake. I will probably order a lighter BB to save pack weight. But I'm not clear about how to read the weight limits for the different BBs. I'm definitely sticking with the double layer hammock as I actually like the feel of my Therm-a-Rest in the hammock.

The Blackbird Double Layer 1.0 has a weight limit of 240 lbs.
The Blackbird Double Layer 1.1oz has a weight limit of 260 lbs.

When selecting the best fit, how much weight do you add to your body weight? How much "safety margin" would/should you have?
    Is there a difference comfort-wise?

When I was first looking into hammocks, the Hennessy support recommended that I go for a larger sized hammock since I was planning to use it extensively and it would be more comfortable. Would I notice the difference between a 1.0 and a 1.1 BB? Or should I simply go for the lightest option?

At 130 lbs (59 kg), a single layer 1.0 or 1.1 should be more than just fine for you.

I concurr with Hooch. Got a BB 1.0 double coyote for wife and she is 5ft 3 and 160lbs. I think it took her all of 10 minutes after getting in it the first time before she was alseep.

If you have questions about the BB, email Brandon at Warbonnet and he will answer them.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

How much are you all straining your hammocks = how much do you stay below the weight limit?

Anybody gone beyond the max. weight limit? Is the hammock actually useable / comfortable until the max. weight limit? Or is the real weight limit more like the max. flatness limit?

Just trying to make my mind up. For my weight, the 1.0 double layer should be ample - but could I loan it to e.g. somebody who weighs 220 lbs when the max. weight limit is 240 lbs?

I remember reading somewhere that Brandon is a little on the conservative side with his weight ratings. The material can take more but then there is the possibility of stretch and therfore the loss of flatness.
