Moving away from North Carolina

Well I just got orders to PCS to Spokane Washington in November. I am going to make it to the Linville gorge hang in Oct but that will be my last hang in the south east seeing that i will be 2600mi away. I was really looking forward to the mt Rodgers hang again. But the north west is great with great places to hang. Any hangers out there in WA want to get together I would love to see the local hang outs.

Well I'm glad you plan to make it to LG before you head out. That should be quite an interesting gathering of hammockers!

get some longer tree straps, the trees are a lot bigger out this way.

Plowhorse, how long do you have your straps? I live in So Cal, and am just getting my gear for hammocks together, and was wondering this very thing.

Make sure to eat plenty of livermush in the Gorge ... bet they don't have that out West!!!!!!

Also ...... Pie at Louise's ....... no one goes to the Linville Gorge and skips the pie. Also VERY good southern hot dogs with chili, onions and slaw.
It is like All-You-Can-Eat Buffets and Ice Cream Challenges on the AT ..... local trip tradition .... part of the gig. Gorge at the Gorge!!!!!

thanks every body going to miss the this part of the country but that is the great thing about military you get to see the world. Trading the AT for the PCT not a bad trade. Cant wait to see everybody at the gorge.
