it seems like I don't ever get to ask any questions...I spend a few minutes looking and someone has already asked it. ha! Thanks guys! Just finished converting a cheap o lap quilt into an underquilt with channels in the sides and needed to know how to hang it.

I forget which video it was but I have been using an idea from one of Shug's videos for newbies. He attached a short length of shock cord in the middle of the quilt that was looped up and over the hammock ridgeline. This cord pulls the middle of the quilt up snug under the butt area. Seems to work pretty well.

    shock cord

My current DIY under-quilt has a continuous channel that runs around all four sides exiting at each corner. I run a continuous shock cord through this channel. The knot is worked back along one side so it is not at a corner. This gives me four loops, one at each corner. A cord lock is fastened to each of these loops. The tension and shape of both the sides and ends can be adjusted with the cord locks.

To suspend the quilt I use a piece of string about one foot long with a loop on one end and a mitten hook on the other. The loop is tied in a prussic to the hammock suspension. The mitten hook is clipped to the shock cord loops. Sometimes I like to bring the shock cord over the top of the hammock before clipping it in.

The shock cord is nice because it brings the sides of the quilt up snugly when you're laying down, yet still allows you to sit sideways in your hammock without stressing the quilt.
