Ran into a problem with whoopies

I made some whoopies and installed them to my sons HH Scout. Installed them just like Slobro did in his tutorial http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=9349
Here's the problem, I removed the tarp and now that I have the whoopies on I dont know how to re-install it (the way HH had it)? I know I can just run a seperate tarp ridge line but dont want to do that if I dont have to. Eventually going to get him a separate tarp but not until after he gets used to setting this one up and can handle it all himself.
Would like to have it all one piece and run snake skins over it, is it still possible? Thanks

P.S. the rest of the suspension is adjustable whoopie loop to soft shackle to loop on tree saver with dutch clip. (if you can understand all that LOL)

Haven't read all 17 pages of the post you referred too but by your description it looks like you need to prussik a loop with hook/s biner/clip for your tarp on your whoopie.

If it is on the 'bury' it might be a bit of a problem, don't know since I never tried that. The original loops from a HH tarp don't 'bite' well enough on the whoopie, at least not the loops I tried for a friends tarp.....

    Hope this helps.

Try as I might I was unable to get my hennessy asym tarp to hang nicely when attaching to the suspension. I tried with the original suspension and whoopies. When I got it into the hammock it would sag. Also, finding good place on the whoopies to mount the hennessy prussics was not easy or more trouble than it was worth.

I think it's inevitable that you'll need to hang the tarp on it's own ridge line. You can hang the original asym tarp on it's own ridge line and then swap it when/if you feel the need to upgrade.

Triple prussic the tarp hooks to the static side of the whoopie loop. Use a small diameter line (like 1.75 zing-it) for the prussic line. A sling shot tarp tensioner on one of the hook setups may help with the sag when loading the hammock.

All that said, a zing-it ridge line with Dutch hook and flyz is my preferred tarp method.

Camoxjeep, when you made your whoopie slings did you allow enough space between the bury of the fixed eye and the constrictor end that the tails comes out of? If so, then you just need to reattach the hook with a prusik in this are and it should work.

That was the problem, didn't make them long enough. No where to reinstall the prusik knot. I might have to go back to stock suspension. Have ordered way to much stuff lately so have to wait to make new ones.

Well you can install the tarp prusik on the outboard side of the constrictor as long as it is on the line that comes from the outside of the constrictor, not the adjustable one that runs through it. This is not optimal but does work if ths spacing allows.

I ran into the sag problem .. thing is with the scout tarp, if you don't mount it to the ridge line, and the hammock swings, you swing out of the tarp and get wet.
I used a loop of shock cord for my prussik and stretched it out tight. (On the outer side of the woopie ) Now the shock cord pulls up the slack on the tarp when you get in the hammock and that little tarp stays over the hammock.

    Hope this helps!
