    Hammock footbox question

I'm thinking about making another 'Ghost' type hammock, and I want to include the footbox this time.

    My main questions are:

    - do you guys pre-hem everything before attaching

    - what type of stitch are you guys using to attach the footbox to the hammock body ?

    - what do you guys use to reinforce the joint

    - are there advantages to cutting the hammock blank with the footbox already mostly incorporated ( just requiring one edge to be joined )

    I do.

I just use the standard straight stitch and polyester thread
    - what do you guys use to reinforce the joint
I do. I run a small bit of polyester ribbon on both sides and sew it with two lines of stitching. It is about 1" past both sides of the joint on the hem, that is where you will get the greatest amount of stress on that seam.

The obvious advantage would be less sewing I thought about doing this after I made my hammocks so never tried it but I think it would be better than doing it with two different pices joined together UNLESS you were going to make the foot box out of another type of material i.e. make the foot box with bugnet or something. If you plan to make the foot box adjustable I would only hem all the edges and wouldn't try to join that side.

I appreciate your time answering my questions. Everything was roughly what I was already thinking, but better safe than sorry.

I'll share my results as soon as the hammock is completed!
