New Member To the Hammock World please help me gear up.

I have been very interested in hammock camping for a wile now but I just wasn't ready to take the financial plunge. After this weekend and a 12+ hour torrential down pour I was more than happy to shell out the 300 bucks. I'm not a guy that makes his own gear but I am willing to buy the best gear money can buy as long as its lightweight. and I definitely will not be camping in the winter I've already purchased the main components but I open for any suggestions that you may have here is A list of what I already bought.

    -Warbonnet BB 1.1 DL
    -Superfly Tarp
    -1" Dutch clips
-Jeff's Gear Hammock/Pack Cover (from Jacks)
-All In One System (From whoopieslings.com)

Thanks and I cant wait for my first hang!!!

    Welcome to the forum.

No mention of insulation in your list?

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

It will work (sort of) but it has the problem associated with all standard mattresses, namely that you will experience "cold shoulder" where the hammock body presses against your shoulders. You can supplement your mattress with additional wide CCF or work on something like the SPE (Speer Pad Extender), but the most convenient and overall satisfactory solution is an underquilt.

I first tried a 20" wide air matress. Then I tried a 25" wide air mattress (better but still got cold shoulders). I "bit the bullet" and ordered my first UQ (a Yeti 3-season from Warbonnet) and have never looked back!

That is a fine A list that you have there. I would say that you made some outstanding choices. A good under quilt is worth it's weight in gold. Even if you do not plan on doing any winter camping. I would advice that you seriously consider one.

At what temps would your average person experience cold shoulder.
