Hello from Southeast Louisiana

I've been watching HF for quite a while now. I got an ENO doublenest several months back and have really enjoyed having it pitched in the back yard and once or twice at work on slow days.

Since I'm the type that has to exhaustively research everything on the Internet, I've read a huge volume of information here as well as Just Jeff's site. Additionally, I've watched many videos by Shug, Grizz, and Opie regarding hammock camping.

So as a result, I've been trying hammock camping in the back yard just for fun. I pretty much live in a swamp, so I've got the utmost confidence in my bug net. Ditto my tarp, as I slept through T.S. Bonnie bone dry. I already had a backpacking trip with some friends of mine in N. AL scheduled in October, so now I'm considering ditching the tent and packing my hammock gear instead.

So, greetings from the Republic of West Florida, and many thanks to Opie, Shug, Grizz, Just Jeff, and all the other fantastic contributors to the subject!

I am from central Mississippi and know of this humidity that you live in. We used to live in Waveland, MS (when it was still there.) My wife had family in the Galliano/Golden Meadow area pre-K. They left and we have lost touch with them.

You already know of the bounty of hammock wisdom that lies in this site. Add to it every chance you get.

There is more people here that know hammock camping an willing to share
at a drop of a hat.Im from South Ga.in the great cypress swamps.but for the last 3 years im on my plantation here in American Samoa.So when i said i was going out west i over shot it a little.

We have a full measure of swamp, bugs, heat and humidity here. Check out "Texas Hangs" in the search function. We plan one for halfway to Dallas in mid November. Might be 80°F or 30°F, who knows?

Picked some bluegrass with a bunch of Fine Cajun Folk at a festival in Arkansas ...... great and lively folk who love to pick and eat. They would come to our camp to fetch us and take us to their camp and feed us .... a lot!
