    Hello.

I asked my wife for a Hammock Christmas before last and she got me a Hennessey.I have been in it exactly once for about 5 minutes.I have been a tent camper for decades, but I'm tired of sleeping on the ground.Going camping with my daughter's family in September and am determined to try it.My concern is not being able to sleep all night and then driving home.
Any suggestions on a break in technique? Nowhere to hang it in the yard.

Inlaws or friends close by and have somewhere for you to hang? Make a cheapie hammock stand? Campground for an overnighter? You can always (gasp) take a tent for backup or retreat to the car, if necessary. But where's the fun in that?

Definitely hang the hammock and spend some time it before the trip. They can take some getting used to.

Also, remember that you're going to need some sort of under insulation unless it will be very warm.

    Welcome x 2!!

Ditto to Knotty. Try it out in your back yard, a neighbors yard, rafters inside or a hammock stand, etc.

After I caught the bug, I went through a suffering kick while I tested what types of insulation would work. Like an idiot, it took me several attempts to figure out that I needed some kind of bottom insulation (a sleeping bag along just doesn't work, and it was amazingly frustrating trying to wiggle in while stuck in a Hennessy).

Welcome to you and I also would urge you try hanging in a controlled enviroment (IE: back yard) before your trip.
