    double thickness

i've got another thread going about my crappy sewing machine. if i can't get it to sew before next week, i'm going to try something different. I'm going to make one to fit underneath and against the new one i just bought for $20 plus shipping. I need 2 layers to hold the pads in place. I'm thinking a foldover on the ends vs a channel, and a knot that tightens with use. the sides won't be sewed together but once inside the hammock, they should not slip around.

TO CLARIFY, use the existing new ulta light hammock. then make a non sewed additional hammock to use in addition to the original for the sandwiching action.

I think it may prove difficult to get the "under-hammock" adjusted just right. But hey, give it a try, if it doesn't work you can always take it apart or use it for a second hammock. Experimentation is half the fun IMO. About your machine... did you make sure the bobbin is rotating in the correct direction? On mine, once you insert the bobbin in the little holder but before you put it in the machine, pull on the thread. The bobbin should rotate in a clockwise direction.

This is an interesting idea that has my DIY gears grinding into action!!

I recently took my machine in for service - a Pfaff 4270 - and discovered that the bobbins that came with the machine (off ebay....) were for Singer machines!! No wonder the tension was so hard to maintain!!

Sometimes the problem IS a simple oversight...

    Machine service: $100.00
    New Pfaff Bobbins: $1.00 ea....
