    DIY Down UQ Baffle Question

I am still in the planning stages for my first DIY UQ. It has been a long summer of chores and I am finally getting some time to spend working on this.

One thing that I have noticed while looking at others UQ designs is that the baffle material (my case nanoseeum) doesn't go to the end of the quilt. It stops an inch or so short of the ends.

I guess my original thought would have been to totally close off each baffle by going to the end and then sewing each baffle closed while finishing the ends.

I could see that the material could get bunched when closing the ends up.

I just wanted to get this settled, before I start sewing.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, I left enough room at the ends to do my finish roll seam to the baffle material effectively closing the baffles.

    Thanks Dblcorona.

That is what I figured most were trying to do, but it seemed like some were a little shy of being full length.

While we are on this topic, I have been studying everything I can find on DIY UQs and one thing has me "baffled." How do you get all that material to move through your thread injector when you are sewing across the quilt? I can see this being a big problem when you are doing the center of the quilt. Do you just roll it real tight? My machine doesn't have much room under it.

Your not really ever needing to go under. You sew the baffles on the one side first. Then I worked from one side to the other on the putting the baffles on the other side. I would pin the first baffle sew then pin the next baffle and so on. You just work your way across. Hope that makes a bit of sense.
