Cherohala Motorcycle Resort in Tellico Plains is nice and is within easy striking distance of both ends of the Dragon...great loop either way you ride. Be advised though, Dragon is crowded every weekend.

How does late September or early October sound? I would like to see the fall colors. But do not want to wait until it gets too cold.
Does everyone want to deal with the crowds of people or find other routes and campgrounds.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Is anyone close to the Dragon area that could scout out some of these locations. I haven't been down that way since I started hanging but I know up in the VA area trees are hit or miss sometimes depending on the campground

Yup, thats the big question for Cheroala as with quite a few MC campgrounds. They usually have nice grassy areas for tenting. From all the pics I saw on this campground, most trees ring the property and bushes come right up to it.
