I wish I had a cabin on the top of some big hill
I'd build a fire every evening and listen to the whipporwill

    I'm interested.

The Tail of the Dragon can be a lot of fun ...

and there are tons of fun roads in the area.

Hanging in the campground itself at the store/motel/campground at the US129/NC28 intersection will be a challenge if there are more than a few of us, unless we can hang up the hill by the showers as Kitesurfer suggested.

I've only hung there twice (I've been a groundling there many times), but there didn't seem to be a lot of options for hanging around the grassy tent area. I did find two decent spots down there.

As a few of you suggested, one of the other campgrounds in the area might be a better option for a group hang.

by the restrooms at the top of the hill are several camp spots on a foot trail type road--maybe 100 yards back at most. io drove my truck back there.

How does the weekend of Oct 2nd sound? Trying to fit it in when my girl friend and I can both take a 4 days weekend.

Well, just found out that I most likely can't make it. Wife found a great deal and looks like we are taking my daughter to Disney in Oct.

I will still look for a way to come. If there is one, I will find it.

Wow! I blinked and things were decided quickly. I'm pretty sure I will be there. Once everything is solidified, we should set up meet points for those of us riding in the same direction to get there.

Good idea, once we decide where we are staying people can post their route and see if they can meet up on the way.
