    New here from Ohio

Hi everyone, My name is Chad, I'm from Columbus, Ohio. I'm fairly new to hiking with only a few over nights under my belt and quite a few day hikes. I have a new daughter so getting out there is pretty hard. My first backpacking trip a few months ago was spent in a borrowed eno hammock with a cheap blue tarp. I loved it and since have been in love with the idea of hammock camping.

Soon I plan to buy my own hammock but being inexperienced I am still not 100% sure what to choose. As it stands I plan to buy the Hennessy Expedition with the zipper. Eventially being shared with my girlfriend, when I save up enough I'd really like the WBBB with the Big MamaJamba tarp. I will eventually need two hammock set ups anyway and wont be able to afford the WBBB in time for my next trip so I figured the hennessy being everything I need to start out for $140 is a great deal. If anyone has any recommendations, especially with potentially upgrading the Expedition tarp, maybe the silnylon, or the poly hex(the silnylon hex is a $90 edition so i don't think that'll happen) please give me any advice you can.

I've already learned so much from the people on this site and thank you.

Hey! Welcome to the forums from your West Virginia neighbor! The HH with the zipper is a great choice. Like many I started with a HH and it started me out just fine. Of course I did move on the a WB double and a big JRB tarp and eventually got a Big Mama Spin tarp and had a DIY hammock in between and sold the HH and got a Traveler . . oh the fun never ends!

Welcome to the forums. The Hennessy Expedition is a fine choice for a hammock. Many here like it and use it. My advice is get it and get some more experience hanging under your belt before you consider any further upgrades.

Thank you all so much for a warm welcome. I do have a question about the Hennessy Expedition tarp. It comes with the regular poly diamond shaped tarp. I beleieve I can upgrade to the silnylon diamond shaped tarp for $10 and the poly hex for $20. The silnylon hex is a $90 upgrade so I don't think ill have that in time. So that's a no go for now. Any suggestions?

Also do you guys have any other suggestions for accessories that the hennessy may lack in that I should get?

Again thank you all to the wonderful welcome and all the help.
