    Newbie ridgeline question

I think I understand the purpose of a ridgeline (consistent slack in the hammock, place to hang bug net & stuff). What kind of line can I use, plain old tarp cord, or does it need to be a line that's weight-bearing? What do folks use for their ridgeline? I have access to REI for line of most types.
    Thanks
    KJ

Take advantage of the search function, you can use google and search for "ridgeline hammock forums" as well, equally effective. I would use zing-it or lash-it, rather expensive, but when you consider the other things you can make from it(guylines, nacra biners, nacra prussics, prussics, tarp ridgelines, etc, the cost aint so bad. Its the lightest and strongest. Speer-no-tangle(speer hammock website) line is also good, easy to see at night when hit with a light from a headlamp, lightweight, doesn't tangle as much as regular line, its kinda stiff and has no sag when hung tight. You may experience a tad bit of sag from zing-it/lash it(buy from sherrilltree-they are the cheapest right now). BPL sells aircore which is expensive but very lightweight, dunno strength rating though. I think they have various strengths.

I find plain 550 cord is fine.
