Another Wilderness Hang, Solo Canoe Trip

Just returned from a 4 night solo canoe trip. Once again I took advantage of some "Crown Land" camping, free and unregulated lakes. Weather was cool and windy, but sunny most of the time. The temps went down to about 45' the last night and very windy. I was camped on an exposed point, and it was cold. Stayed warm with a zero rated bag on top and long underwear.

My setup is a HH Expedition Zip with Speer SPE. A cheap light hammock is used under the HH to hold the SPE tight to the Hennessy. I use Prusiks and bungy cord to attach the bottom hammock to the HH suspension line. I clip the sides to the pullouts on the Hennessy.

The two hammocks fit in the snakeskins quite nicely. I'm using the stock rope with rings and biners. Setup couldn't be faster and easier. The heavier rope on the Expedition seems to work fine with the Garda Hitch.

    Ontario Crown Land

    Greetings

Bcaron, how far did you have to travel to find crown land in Ontario? I didn't think there was any in Southern Ontario.

    Cheers

This area was just south of the Pickerel River, certainly not Southern Ont.
There is lots of Crown Land from about Orillia north.

Thanks for the report. Great ideas on the UQ. How do you like your Chinook.

I generally like the Chinook. One thing they need to do is sew a loop on the underside of the tarp to pass the ridge line through. I prefer the ridge line UNDER the tarp, so when you use the center loop to tie to a higher tree, the ridge line is left in the horizontal, rather than tight to the tarp. Hope that makes sense? For the price it's a fine tarp.

Great pics with a fantastic looking tarp setup. I also experimented with the Garda hitch system and found it really ingenious. Nothing like a solo canoe trip to recharge the batteries, eh?
