It depends on how cold you sleep and how well adjusted the UQ is. I'm still tweaking the suspension of my homemade Ix UQ, and I was too cold last night at 41°. Even if I get it perfectly aligned, I doubt that it would get me below 50°, but I like to sleep warm.

BTW, I did give Harpo some pointers, and I believe he's on the right track.

Getting to 32*F is a matter of fit. The IX needs to be constructed well to provide a gap between layers. It needs to be suspended under the hammock without being tight, and with no edge gaps.

I can get down to 5 Degrees Celcius in mine. But I'm a cool sleeper and get hot easily.

Yup, I had the quilt backwards the first time. Now after the tips here and from Mac, I adjusted it and it works better. I slept in it the other night (low temp 53) and was comfortable. The key is understanding that the "Head" end needs to come up to the shoulders, not higher. That will allow your shoulders to spread the IX out and seal the gap better. I ended up double looping the bungee at the foot end and got a good seal at both ends and stayed warm as advertised.

Meaning you hung both ends on the hammock whipping knot, and tossed on a second loop at the foot end, right?

Once you have positioned the UQ, adjust the tension at the foot end, so the head end stays put.

I took a pic of my setup from a hike I did a few days ago.

I've actually fed my cord through the drip rings and hold it there with some tent pegs. Not sure if it's a good idea or not, but it makes set up and pack up really easy.

You'll also see that I'm holding it in place with two little caribeenas. I found that as I toss and turn in the night it would slide up one side. Not anymore

Cocksy, in the middle picture, isn't the IX UQ shifted too far to the right? It seems like it is open, so that cold air can spill in. Is that your head end or foot end?

No one was actually in the hammock at the present time of the photo. Usually when I hop into the hammock it corrects itself, if not I correct it myself. I've used it in a few cold nights thus far 0C (32F) and it's been fine except my feet getting cold (cause it's a 3/4).

Silly me, I'm always telling people not to judge the fit without someone inside!

That's great! Unless you are a cold sleeper, you should be able to get to freezing with any IX UQ.

What's your solution for the cold feet when using a 3/4 UQ?
