    Multi Use Down Quilt

I got all the goodies to make my first quilt ,have browsed the forums
and have seen allot of wonderful stuff that everyone has made but have noticed that their described as one or the other, top quilt, under quilt....
I really like the Karo step top quilts that TeeDee and Animalcontrol did with
great instructional posts to boot and think I'll follow that baffle pattern.

By putting hangout loops at each corner couldn't a top quilt be used as
    an under quilt as well?
Any thoughts on this or design tips would be welcome.

Yes, I use my quilts (just simple, rectangular "do-jobbies") as top or bottom quilts. Mine usually have a drawstring at each end too, to close them up closer to the hammock. Makes them more functional and modular imo.

I'm interested in the Karo step as well, but haven't quite figured out how to make them yet.

Good luck with your project, and post a lot of pics once you're finished!

In addition to what NCP said you can have velcro about 18 inches up[ each side to make a foot box.

Snaps work too, instead of velcro. That is the way my new Hammock Gear (made by Stormcrow) TQ is.
oldgringo's reply to my worrying about owning extra hammocks:

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?

That was my plan too NCP to be rectangular with the drawn ends. Did you find it necessary to run drawcords down the long sides too for adjustment as an underquilt, I question whether that would be of any benefit.

Dutch I did get some SNAG FREE FASTENER from Quest I think it's like the Omni tape
I'm not sure how well it will hold on the footbox the regular velcro I think would be better. No problems with abrasion on the light material?

Kukri the snap sounds nice but again I'd be worried about it holding in the light ripstop.

Ncp the question of sewing the baffles is a good one....looking at Animalcontrols pictures my guess would be that you sew them in rows but because they change direction after each set you would have to roll the material 90 degrees from the previous set....make any since? I'm guessing here
