How To Use HH HexFly Simultaneously With Standard Tarp

I enjoyed a quick test setup today of my HH ULB with a new Hennessy Hextarp. It's nice, and gives better coverage. Photo below; it looks from this angle that the Hextarp is using the ridge line of the hammock, but it's not--it has it's own ridge line that I carabinered to the tree strap, so it's close to the hammock, but not as close as the photo would suggest.

With the standard HH tarp sitting rolled in the bag next to me, I was wondering if there's a way to rig up both--for a vestibule, equipment coverage, end closure, "patio", double layer, etc.

Does anyone have images of using two tarps (Hennessy or otherwise) together successfully? And hints or tips you have would be welcomed. Thanks.

I put the Hex on top of the stock tarp once, just for comparison. I can't think of any practical reason for it.

You can see it in the photo. Both dogs grew up in your area, near IL47 and US30.

Sew it up into Grizz Beaks or make an undercover with it.

I think it's a great question. I recently obtained a stock cover from another member here and was wondering what to do with it. I was almost thinking of using it as an overcover and pitch it down real tight against my hammock to hold air in.

@JustJeff I didn't find the instructions on your sight for converting the fly to an undercover. Can you help a guy out with a link?

This blurb is right above the picture of the undercover...just click on the link and the .pdf will open.

Gear Collector figured out how to make the stock Hennessy tarp fit as an A-sym undercover. Like all good winter hammocking pioneers, he wrote detailed instructions with pics here (Adobe Acrobat Reader needed to view file). Of course, you'll need another tarp (preferably a bigger one) to protect you from the rain.

I setup once when there was no wind with the hex, the wind then came in that night... of course on a side that the tarp didn't block... i jerry rigged the little tarp at the end to work a bit like grizz beaks, I had to prop it up of a night with my hiking poles though, but did good for a few nights

I'm looking at mine as either a wind block on the end or a dining fly. We got bears so I do not like to cook where I eat. ;-)
