    Help needed

    Hi folks,

I was wondering if I could get a little help from you knowledgable people.

First off I have looked through a lot of the threads in this section and feel a bit lost.

I was thinking of making a simple unstuffed underblanket for my hammock and I have come to the relise that I need a lot more info. Can anybody point me in the right direction of a tutorial for making an under blanket???

Also I have some Nylon quilted fleece to use and was wondering if in your opinion it would be suitable.

    again many thanks

What do you mean by unstuffed? Using fleece for insulation? Or synthetic instead of down? This will make a difference in where to look for the info.

There's a page on simple synthetic quilts here:

And a great tutorial on down quilts here:

Easiest way is to just sew the fleece to some DWR in a rectangle. Put channels on the short ends for a drawstring so you can snug the ends to the hammock. Put little loops on each corner so you can attach the UQ with elastic. Simple.

If you want to get fancy, you can cut out some of the material on the ends to save weight and make it fit better, but it'll work without that.

I based my DIY under quilt on this design and instructions.

Mine was modified because my hammock is not asymmetrical. Basically, I just moved the darts even to where my shoulders are. I made a cheap mock-up to make sure I got the measurements just right then had at it. Works great!!!
