    RAINY WEEKEND project

so with bd weather, I stayed busy. I finished up my 10.5' x 62" hammock. i learned to make a couple of loops of 7/64ths amsteel using a guitar string. i sewed up a bug net from the $1.50 a yard stuff from walmart. I can keep it tied back on one end until I need it and then just slide it down the ridge line. I made a couple of soft shackles and attached to the rings and will attach them to the straps using toggles. unfortunately i had to hand it in the garage and was unable to put weight in it. i pland to carry a needle and thread camping next week so i can tweek the hammock and netting if needed.

Really nice work. I have one question for you on the bugnet. Are you not worried about he bugs getting to the bottom of the hammock?

i may have to sew a few small bags on the bottom of the hammock. put keys, coins, rocks, ect to hold the net down around the hammock. it's all new to me. i'll post up if it don't work.

    Kite,
It looks like a really tight weave on your net...maybe too tight? Have you tested it for breathability? It may not let in enough breeze and fresh air, turning your hammock into a sweat box?

Great work. Nice DIY rainy day project

Bugs follow your heat signature and are not smart enough to go under and over to get to you.

I carry a few grip clips to keep the bottom edges together. If its windy just attach one of your stuff sacks to the loops and now you have weighted ends!
