it slept great! the first night was tough because I was missing my pillow and I was head high. second night was head low. that was better. The rest was absolutely level and i slept like a baby. I tried laying diagonal but truthfully did not need to. i seemed to lay perfectly flat and was able to sleep on my side too. my pad insert worked great--just a cheap blue pad with 'wings' that i saw other had used. the temp hit low 40's a couple of nights. i was toasty warm with the pads but i could not take my head out from under the bag on one of those nights. the hammock generated a lot of conversation from strangers! the bug net hung losely over the ridge line and stayed secure nicely using a few cloths pins as weight to hold it down.
