Alright so, is it safe to say there is no way to make an under quilt without access to nylon fabric? Just being 100% sure.

Not at all, but I can see how you are getting that impression. What do you want to do. Do you have an old bag you like to convert or would you prefer to make one from scratch?

For an underquilt you don't need nylon, you can make it out of whatever you want.

There are no rules in how to make one, people are just giving their thoughts on how they do it. I might take an old bag I have and try to convert it to an under quilt. I need to make more if I'm going to take my boys out when it's cold anyway. If I do I'll post how I do it.

Anything will do (except food). Here's a link to HeadChange4U's Neat Sheet Multi-quilt instructions. It's a pretty good tutorial on how to make an underquilt from whatever you end up making it with...

You can make it from food, just expect a LOT of company that first night. (and then you won't have an underquilt the second night.)

Multi-use gear: underquilt + midnight snack (substitute toe-cheeze for dried yellow stuff).
