Hi all !
This is my first attempt on this great forum.
First of all, I would like to apologize for my poor english writing and understanding.
I am French, and, as some know, it's not a great deal in foreign languages
This is said, now let's talk about serious things.
I was wandering in this really nice forum for about a month or two and the idea of making my own hammock grew in my head to the point I really had to do it.
And then I did it.
You really must know, fellow people from across the Atlantic, the chance you have to find ripstop nylon and so on in shops like Walmart.
Finding good outdoor fabric is quite difficult, here !
Not to mention prohibitive customs fees while buying online in US shops.
Well, UK is well provided but currency exchange rate makes everything more expensive.
First, I ordered in a German online shop 3m (3.2808yards) of this to make my first hammock.
Yes, I know, it's really yellow ... let's say it's a new kind of "sun camo".
mosquito net is made of organza.
I made my tree huggers with this and first used that kind of rope for both structural ridgeline and hanging ... My bruised butt can tell you that it wasn't enough !
I still use 2mm for ridgeline but 3mm x 2 for suspension.
I made my first hammock with this material on the basis of headchange4u's HH clone tutorial.
Thank you headchange for your great tutorial !
As I wanted it as light as possible, I sewn the mosquito net on the hammock (no zippers).
I really loved the HH bottom entry and decided to have one on mine.
I also made a top quilt from pertex quantum from extremtextil (looks like they don't have it anymore) and an Ikea down pillow.
As I only used half of the down from the pillow, I managed to make a 1.5m by 1.5m square UQ from this fabric.
Here are some pics of the finished products :

View of the back (it was sewn up to higher than my knees, it was too much so I unsewn a bit) :
This is before adding bug net and bottom entry :
Added two snake skins made of quantum :

As I don't want to hang alone in the dark, I managed to make a second one for a good friend of mine from parachute ripstop nylon I found on ebay ... way too wide, in fact !
As I didn't had anymore down, I made a cheap UQ from a 9.9€ (about 12.60$) synthetic sleeping bag from Decathlon (european cheap sport stuff seller).
Here's the result :
Well, I think this post is long enough and it's time to end it !
I hope you enjoyed (at least I did ) !
thanks again to everyone who gave useful tips and information by this forum ... without it I doubt I could be able to do it by myself.
Sam
