What cord did you use and how did you tie it to the pulls? Also, Did you put it on both the inside and out?

I thought about adding something to the pulls but figured I try and live with them as-is for a while — thinking, they might grow on me.

Like I said, so far my only complaint with the BB and not even a big one at that.

Craig2112 ........ that was a top notch report!
Had me like a James Lee Burke novel gets me ......

Way to go! I admire a researching type mentality.
You picked some terrific gear there.
Now in the piney woods it gets even better......miles back in the woods with Your kit ready to go and the confidence to use it.
You have practiced and and already gone to UQ. Brilliant move. I know Stormcrow and he packs a lot of love into making those Crowsnests.
By the way I put small loops of Tarp line.... Speer No-Tangle Line http://stores.tttrailgear.com/-strse...ine/Detail.bok on my BB pulls.

"I finally got a couple hours of sleep but woke up at 3 AM with a cold back and terrible heartburn from the Mexican food. I finally had to abandon the hammock around 4 AM for a chair in the living room, a glass of water and a Pepcid."-Craig

You have a way with words, hombre. Very funny. You ought to write a novel. Seriously.

Wal-mart has, check the camping aisle, zipper pulls/cords; four for about $2, and they have nice plastic thingies on the end and are great. I get many just for cases like you state. Check it out--amazing the stuff Walmart has, actually.

With I was back in my native Massachusetts, could grab a hang with you. Newbies on parade.

Hey, Kent, CT was voted #1 foliage site in all of New England (and thus all of America) in the latest issue of Yankee Mag. See story online. I miss the maples and red bloom of New England. And the saltbox style homes, with plenty of trees, like yours.

    Enjoy, friend.

holy cow that list of stuff you bought before you even went backpacking is...WHOA!

That's like buying a new Porsche right before you learn to drive. Nice!
If there's two ways to take my comments, assume it's the lighter and funnier of the two.

While I would like to claim it was all about me doing my due diligence a large part was in fact self-preservation. If I Keystone Cop'd my first hang in front of my Un-Believer mates, I'd never live it down.

Thanks Shug, coolkayaker1 & mbiraman for suggestions regarding the zipper pulls. I'll definitely give it a shot.

When I was getting my motorcycle license there were a guy in class (his first time ever on a bike) who had already ordered $20,000 Harley. If I fail hammocking at least I only bruise my bum and my ego. If he fails....

Ignatius' hammock didn't quite reach the other tree.*
