    As far as I know, no one has EVER been successfully sued for patent infringement for personal use.



    And on a personal note, any company that would even threaten to sue for such is absolute scum, regardless of the legal technicalities.


    Edit: I also can't recall any instance where I ever heard someone say "I made a HH". I've heard lots of "here's my DIY take on such and such".

    I did not mean to start a fight here.

    I only suggested that if a DIY'er uses a commercial model (patented design or otherwise) as an inspiration that it might be proper to refer to it as a "clone" or maybe an inspiration. Just a tip o' my Tilley to the folks who make and market hammocks and gear.
