Singer 20U Professional Sewing Machine. Many would call this an industrial sewing machine, but I won't because it is not a true industrial machine. It is a Commercial grade machine and works like a champ. It will sew delicate lace(which I won't admit to) up to auto upholstery vinyl. Great for a gear maker who is doing cottage industry or production work and needs a little more speed. This machine was designed for artisan clothing and drapery production. I've got too many.
Specs
1/2HP clutch motor
9 mm zigzag
5mm straight stitch
2600 stitch per minute.

$450 - yikes. Shipping is not really an option due to weight and size, but I'm willing to travel a little ways.

Is this a Japanese Singer? Gears steel or brass?

Japan. Serial number TD742662.

Steel gears. There is at least one bronze connecting arm and bushing.

Any idea on shipping, I know a local deal would be best but I am interested but in the pacific north west so shipping would be needed unless that is in your delivery radius

it would be a shame to break up the machine/table, but from time to time the tables apper in my local CL at what i think reasonable prices..the machine it'self could be easyly crated and shiped..just a thought. i would love to have it, but unfornutly both money and space are in short supply.

you can ship some fairly big and heavy items via UPS pretty reasonably

i shipped a stainless steel restaurant prep sink, that was 70lbs and 40"x24"x18" for a little less than $60

but i found it was much cheaper when i printed out the shipping label at home opposed to going to the UPS store and having them weigh and do everything there, was actually about $40 cheaper to do it online, would of been almost a hundred to take it there and have them do everything

I have never used a sewing machine before. Do you have any manuals with it? How long since you used it? How firm are you on the price?

I have the manual, parts list, and a mechanics manual with timing settings, etc. I have not used in about 1 year b/c I just haven't built anything lightweight. I've been making boat covers, etc lately. I am pretty firm on the price.

Machine is in EXCELLENT condition. When I bought it, it was in great condition. I cleaned it, re-timed it (it was skipping a couple stitches on the widest zig-zag), oiled it up it works perfectly.

I would love to sell it but I don't recommend it for someone who has never used a sewing machine before. Most off the shelf sewing machines run about 800 stitches per minute. This one runs at 2500 spm. It only takes few hours on the machine to learn how to feather/control the clutch motor for slow speed sewing, but it may be a little overwhelming to try to learn to sew while you're also trying to learn how to control the clutch motor.
