Sore hands, belt sanders and RotoZips

Yep. I know the feeling. I am not so sure that I am "wise beyond my years" as you put it, but at 60 I know the sore feeling in my hands after spending a day in the shop fabricating doodads. ANd my hands are reasonably strong from canoeing & kayaking. The belt sander is sounding better and better.

Anyone ever try a RotoZip for cutting alu shapes?

Harbor Freight has an excellent return/exchange policy.
I've used it quite a few times. Bought some specific gear/tool for a specific job, use (abuse) it to no end and bring it in for exchange if it breaks.
They stand behind their tools and have never given me any flack. Set it on the counter, go to the shelf, grab a new one, and they exchange it. No receipt or questions.
They do "ask" for the reciept, but I never needed one for exchanges or returns.
You do have to fill out the normal address form, takes a minute or two.

All in all, a decent company to deal with. You get what you pay for of course. Not top of the line stuff, but for one time items, their a good deal.

Gives me an idea to make some. One of the benefits of working in a machine shop. I can make anything I want. Sometimes the boss even gets into it. It's a wonder we get anything done at all.....

The Diy version the OP made look like they are 1/4" or thicker. The original Dutch Clips are made from 3/16th.

I would have thought Dutch had them stamped out by machine or cut with a type of machine that uses water and abrasives to cut. If they are each done by hand . . . whew! Good job. I am impressed as h&%% at the mini biners I was lucky to have purchased. I was in awe as I thought of how the wire is bent for them.

Are they really made by hand? Or is my leg being pulled? My naivete is unsurpassed.

Dutch clips and biners are water jet cut. This thread is about one-off sets that 2 people have made for themselves. Hope that clears things up. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Dutch hand finishes each one, to remove burrs and stuff. That alone is probably pretty time consuming. My hat's off to you, Dutch!

I had the water jet thing in mind when I examined my biners from Dutch. But I was beginning to believe from this thread he made them by hand. Like I said . . . naive.
