MAHHA hang: anyone willing to loan/rent gear for 2 newbies?

Hey all, I'm planning to attend the MAHHA hang in October as my first hang, and the wife wants to come too. Any kind souls out there have some spare gear we can borrow for the hang to try things out? We'd be happy to "rent" gear even ($, beer, preferred food items).

I'm definitely excited to check out hammock camping but I'd love to see what it's like in practice to get a better idea where to spend the $ wisely. Besides, if I don't convince my skeptical wife hammock camping is comfortable, I'm going to end up a ground sleeper by default

I've got a couple of DIY gathered end hammocks that you could borrow, but I need to know how tall you are. My hammocks are made for my wife and myself, we're pretty short.

Excellent thanks guys... I am just shy of 5' 10" and my wife is 5', both light so weight shouldn't be an issue.

I was thinking of bringing an extra wal-mart tarp (not gonna hurt me to have an extra tarp around the house in any case). Any recommendations on size/type if I want to have it as a backup hammock tarp?

Something with at least a 10 foot side. But 13 foot side starts to get too long. Do you need pads?

We'll probably be wanting pads for future camping anyway, so I'll pick some up before then. I'll check out the local wal-mart and failing that, next time we're at REI I'll find something suitable. Thanks again, really looking forward to October :-)

You can probable use the JRB Raffle prize Under Quilt... if the eventual Sat night winner does not have any issues... How do the other attendees feel about that?

    I'm good with that.
