    1st post and 1st question

    Hi all!!!!
I'm brand new to hammock camping, but I have a problem...no hammock.
Well...not really...I received my Mosquito Hammock on Monday, but much to my disappointment, the zipper on the mosquito netting only had 1 slider not 2 as advertised. Not sure if I'm being anal, but $150 is $150!
I've just e-mailed him to ask for a refund. Kind of sucks because return shipping to Thailand is like $14!

Anyway.....assuming I get my refund, suggest to me a hammock.
I do want 4 season capability, which was a real turn on to the Clayton Jungle hammock. I most likely won't do 4 season, but I may try. I made my first snow cave last year and had a great nights sleep in it too!
Anyway....I'm 6'2" and 240 lbs. I know my size limits me to only a select few hammocks. I've looked at many, but probably not as many as all of you know about.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to participating here.

    Welcome!
Warbonnet Blackbird will be suggested a lot. Made by member Warbonnetguy. Excellent hammock, comfy, and made in USA (if that is important to you). Here he is showing how to set it up.

Most any hammock can be used 4-seasons. While there are a few designs out there with weight limits below 240, most of them are 250 or better. There are many, many designs out there that will work for you... I myself am 6'-3" and I've hammock camped with a buddy who TOWERS over me (he's got a HH rig, not sure what model).

Welcome to the forum. You can't go wrong with any of the hammocks. You can make your own for $60 or less.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.

Hi and welcome, no matter what you buy now, youll have a second hammock and eventually a thrid in no time, its a horriable addiction this hammocking stuff . But I gotta put my vote in for a warbonnet black bird. I am 6' at 200 pds and have the 1.7 dbl. Ive checked out a HH (bottom entry with no zipper mod) as well as a bridge (not the JRB though) and presonally like the warbonnet the best. Although with all the mod's that 2Q and ZQ offer a HH is right up their with the black bird. If your thinking about a bridge which is a great hammock Id suggest trying one out first just my 2$

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

    New Hammock

Like they said, Warbonnet Blackbird gets my vote as many will also do. However I also own a Hennessy and a few DIY hammocks as well. Like DblCorona stated a hang is in the works second weekend in Oct. Good opportunity to see some different rigs and try em out for a few minutes. At least it's better than buying sight unseen. I'll be bringing multiple hammocks in case someone wants to try one for a night so you might want to check it out. Heck, your in Milford I'm in Novi, we could just meet up and I could show you a few options. PM me if interested...Bush

Just a update on the Clayton hammock....Tom e-mailed me and said to keep the hammock and he would refund my money. Thats very nice of him, but being a honest person myself, I can't allow him to do that. I told him to just refund my shipping costs to me and I will mail it back to him.
What a great businessman! I'm afraid that too many people would take advantage of something like that though and I don't want to be one of those people.
