Best generic place to get rope

In the future I'm probably gonna need some support rope for more hammock and/or gonna give advice to friends as to where to find good support rope for their hammock, so...

Know any places (other than obvious camping/sport stores or military surplus stores) that carry high strength rope. I have a friend who has a bunch of different kinds of rope from all over the place. Walmart, fred meyers, assorted department stores But, his are huge like rock climbing rope, not really made for hammock camping.

Look at marine suppliers too. Boat people love strong rope.

Boat/marine suppliers are the best places to get SMALL sized strong rope.

I have been getting mine from a marine shop and I think they use it for dingy control lines. (whatever that is )

Yacht chandler's: Spectra is used for racing control lines.

Climbing outfitters: Spectra in 8-11mm rope.

    Hardware store: everything else.

I'd go with sub 3mm spectra or vectran...
Way overkill on strength, but light and no stretch or water absorbtion.
