    S.K.A.H.O 2K11 - Winter Edition

As discussed in the S.K.A.H.O thread a few HF members are hoping to arrange a Scandinavian Winter Hang.

It doesn't have to include Scandinavians only (we'll change the title accordingly) Let's see if we can get more nationalities with us on this one!
Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, German, Dutch, British, American, Canadian, Australian, etc. feel free to join us....

Personally I haven't got any experience winter camping, except overnighters in local forest in a few degrees below freezing. I'm blessed with a positive attitude though and I sleep warm - so count me in!
I'm guessing some of our Swedish and Finnish HF members are skilled winter campers already?!

Who's up for it, and please comment on possible locations and dates.

    /Wild

I can't wait to read your trip reports.

LOL yeah, I'm beginning to learn that pics matter around here
We'll document this hang thoroughly with lots of pictures (if the batteries doesn't freeze ) and post a trip report.

Take an oldschool non-electric camera with you Lomography is pretty trendy this days, it is easy to get cheap man-powered camera. Better one may be heavy... It will survive making photos at -20 C, I have checked this (lubricating oil will dense a little I will never forget white frost growing on a big front lens when I came back home ) For a lightweight option - google "matchbox pinhole". You can make one on the trail with a little experience

Last winter it was 5C in our kitchen, so just above freezing. Does it count as a winter camping?

    Exclamation Title changed

Title changed back to Scandinavian Winter Hang Out (from European Winter Hang Out) to avoid any confusion with the HF EURO hang thread.

All nationalities are still welcome - actually you're required to come

    /Wild

Edit note: tried to change the title is more like it - Mod assistance has been requested

Perhaps to save on the travel expense, we could arrange several hangs on the same weekend in each country that would want to participate. The Aussies have the advantage on us as our winter is their summer.

There is already the planning thread for the annual Mt. Rogers hang in January going on.

    Just a thought.

    Cheers

    That's actually a great idea!
I'd still like to get as many people at the same hang though and I'll be willing to spend a little extra on travel expenses to get more nationalities hanging together.

One thing that comes to mind here is:

The slight fuel problem for us fly boys.
B/c we can't bring any on the plane.

I heard about people that lost their kitchen/fuel bottle b/c it smelled to much when boarding.
So i will ventilate my kitchen and fuel bottle very well before flight.
