Not a big fan of bat guano or of chicken poop since that's where histoplasmosis lives. I have POHS (presumed ocular histoplasmosis syndrome). After 20+ laser surgeries, I'm down to one eye with 70% vision. No reoccurences in the last 10 years so I'm probably cured.

The good news is that POHS only affects Southern white men, so the rest of y'all are good to go!

ps - it was histoplasmosis. The docs just called it histo cause they saw it so often from cavers.
After reading up on it, I'm pretty sure it was histo too. Now I know!

Lots of thoughts on this one.
You knew you were to hang in a cave prior? So knew to take the nec. hardware?
I think I'd love it in the summer when its cooking outside.
In Ky you are blessed with caves--might as well enjoy them.
On the histo I'm wondering if there is a preventative medicine if you are a frequent caver...hmmm.
Once a year in the fall I do a round of doxy knowing over the last so many months I've been ticked more than once, just thinking.

You can wear a face mask like a painters mask or resperator to keep it out of your lungs. That was what suggested to me by the docs, since i wasn't going to stop caving

The caves stay a pretty constant temp ( i think around 58 - 62 farenheight) all year round so they are really good to go in any time of the year.

    Cool Hang!

Never used any of that climbing gear before- may have to consider a little education. I hunt, therefore, camp in some rocky places so being able to stay in the rocks could help.
    Thanks for sharing!!

The above however is nowhere near as scarey as the actual problem
    .

Neither however are as troubling as finding you don't have permission to post anything. Then I remembered it was the 30th and I joined on the 29th last year. Couple of clicks of paypal money and Viola! I'm free to insult you all's intelligence for another year.

That's one way to avoid winter. Something about going from freezing to 50 that never ceases to impress me.

That cuts both ways. It's cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
