digrat, that is awesome!
You get my vote for coolest hang of the year.
As a former coal miner, I can appreciate the courage required not merely to hang under, but also to ___sleep___ under unsupported roof.
Just thinking about it makes my hair stand up!
Thanks for posting the pictures.
Sounds like a good place to have a couple Photon Freedom LEDs. Those tiny little buggers put out a pretty amazing amount of light for their size. http://www.photonlight.com/products/...lashlight.html
I too will something make and joy in it's making
Thanks for sharing photos. I gotta ask--did you get any bat guano in your mouth?
Fetid, with faint odor of ground cinnamon. Sort of like stale Wrigley's Doublemint Gum.
where was that? looked real nice...the first hammock i ever saw was i n a national geographic story about south american cave exploration they were all in hammocks i knew i had to have one
It was a non-commercial cave off the Kentucky river. I know a guy who knows a guy who knew about it.

I happened back upon this thread and thought I'd give a way after the fact update: All three of us that went ended up with pneumonia--we called it "cave crud." I'm betting it was due to the fact that it rained pretty heavily the previous night so the cave was terribly damp, plus the lack of adequate insulation that night (which, as you probably can figure out means not only was I too cold, but I got close to zero sleep). Add all that up, and throw in a healthy dose of who-knows-what-was-growing-in-there and you get...cave crud!
Would I camp in that cave again? Probably. But not during the wet season!

Since you saw bats in the cave it may not have been pnumonia, i got Histo from caving in Tennessee in caves with bats about 20 years ago.
ps - it was histoplasmosis. The docs just called it histo cause they saw it so often from cavers.
