    Black Rock Mountain GA

This trip was for my 4 year wedding anniversary! i forced my wife to go hammock camping...and she really enjoyed it

so we got to the state park around 7ish and set up the tent (a small 2 person tent in case the wife didnt like the hammock) then came the new out door research tarp (which kind of stuck together a little where i sealed the seam running through it). rei messed up the pricing so i got it for cheap finally the hammocks a quick eno set up with a regular cot bugnet for the wife (with the hammock threaded through two holes poked in the side and knotted at the bottom) and my hennessey.

The first evening was spent around a camp fire drinking wine out of cups made by slicing a water bottle in half (we forgot cups) and my wife praising my getting much better fire making skills ...she also liked my pathetic attempts to use a blunt walmart axe to make the kindling

night 1....went to sleep around 12 woke at 5 couldnt get comfy in the hennessey....wife was snoring away .....she compained that i kept moving around all night and farting on her but never the less slept in til around 7

Sat we spent the day hiking the small trails a few miles each (i was wearing flip flops and my wife hikes less than me). It was good for us both to be alone (no kids for the weekend) and walking the sunny/shady forest was nice/ After that we spent an hour kayaking on the lake.

lunch cheese crackers grapes wine yum!

we had a short nap in the hammocks and woke around six to make hotdogs and smores. spent the evening around the camp fire.

night 2....slept better in the hennessey 11-6:21...woke with an ice cold butt!! had a rei +20 bag and was warm except for a cool backside...looked at the temp said 41 degrees. need to invest in a ccf pad for now and maybe an underquilt. wife slept fine in a walmart sleeping bag....she sleeps hot!!

Woke wife at 7:30 after packing everything around her sleeping self....then went to the Dillard house for breakfast...yum

wifes liking hammock camping, im getting better at set up...all is good...all in all a great anniversary

Happy Anniversary! Sounds like y'all had a good time with all the obstacles that you overcame. Must say all should experience a breakfast at the Dillard house. Ain't nothin' finer! you leave 5 lbs heavier and vey full! Pretty area where you went. Glad it was a success for you and the bride!

I was re-reading my post and I noticed how much cool hammock/camping stuff I have and how little my wife does....time to rectify that I think

Thanks for the trip report. Black Rock Mtn. Is a great state park. There are some nice back country camp sites. I used to take my sons there when we first started hiking.
